MMP 2 and -9, tenascin-C, c ollagens IV and VI, and the MMP i nhibitor, TIMP, were quantified usi ng monoclonal antibodi es in sandwich i mmunoass ays. Immune c omplexes were s epar ated from serum using magnetic particles covered with monoclonal anti-fluoresc eine. Results: Two-tailed paired t-test showed s tatisticall y significant p 0.05 ; differ ences between pre- and post-PSTTM treatment for tenascin-C protein, MMP-1 protei n, MMP-9 collagen IV and MMP-9 TIMP, in gener al, suggesting a regulated proteol ysis as a preconditi on for favourable remodeling of joi nt struc tures, as opposed to uncontrolled MMP-release and high levels of matri x fragments s uch as collagen IV and VI ; in ac tive RA. Suc h t-tests were als o us ed evaluate pain intensity and ADL on awakening in the morni ng, at night during rest, on asc endi ng and descending stairs, standi ng for 15 minutes, and descending stairs alone ; . In all cas es, a statisticall y significant improvement p 0.05 ; was obtained post-PSTTM treatment. The positive res ults obtained post-PSTTM in OA j oint remodeling and its clinical significance in i mproving both pai n and ADL, were confirmed by Pearsons correlati on p 0.05 ; .
